The Alexis Tapestry
Growing up I was always the kid that went way too hard when it came to anything crafty. Pumpkin carving contests, book report dioramas, cutting up socks to sew fabulous outfits for my barbies. I did it all (and often without asking the owners of the socks if I could have them!) In adulthood, I channeled that passion into elaborate Halloween costumes (one year I was a Star-Gazing Lily and I hand dyed all the petals!), ornate miniature scenes that functioned as lamps, and colorful garments. When I was little my grandmother had taught me to crochet and I'm ashamed to admit that when I made my first single crochet scarf I deemed crochet boring and put it down for a long time. Then in 2020, I picked it back up again and made my first amigurumi, which if you don't know is the Japanese art of crocheting little cute figures. I was instantly addicted and I haven't stopped since. Now I compete in crochet competitions, sell my pieces and my patterns, and teach crochet to others inspired to learn. I founded a popular Los Angeles based crochet club where people come together for laughs, to share their work and just overall good vibes .You'll always find me with a project in my hands, and if I don't answer you right away its probably because I'm counting my stitches...
